Turkey’s prominent anchorman Cuneyt Ozdemir caught us (!) in rehearsal and had a full interview with us in CNN Turk. We played our songs and mash ups to inspire all our friends from Turkey to have a new beginning in Silicon Valley and be a part of it.
DetailsAfter our sold-out concerts in the Bay Area, we decided to share the tune with SoCal and hit the road! We initiated the mini tour from our hometown San Francisco then rocked Los Angeles right after and finalized in San Diego with no desire to go back again. Maybe the next time we would end up in Mexico, who knows?
DetailsAfter driving all those miles for our tour, now it is time to relax for a little while and play full acoustic in a cozy setup -this time in Mountain View. We will once again play our most wanted songs that will touch your souls at RedRock Cafe!
Mechanical Turk
Mechanical Turk is a true formed by 4 musicians with a variety of backgrounds in engineering. They shared the impulse of bringing some of the finest tunes of turkish pop-rock to the West Coast. Sonat Karakaş, former drummer of Celloband, the official bandfor Turkcell, joins up with Can Yücel and Utku Deniz Küçük - two veterans of the Sabanci University Rock Choir and together they decide to follow their dream to bring a musical taste of their homeland to California in mid 2015. They are then joined by another Rock Choir veteran from Bogazici University this time, Kaan Tarıman - who released his solo album "Uc Boyutlu Yalnizlik" hitting the charts in 2011.When Utku decided to pursue his music career back in Istanbul, Sedat Parlatıcıbilek joined as the fresh blood giving Mechanical Turk its final form in 2016. The four have taken up the stage in San Francisco Bay Area but looking out for other gigs across the country.
Mechanical Turk is a complete Silicon Valley story. It's made up of four musicians who work in companies like Google, Apple that come from engineering background. The aim is to introduce the United States to Turkish pop-rock, and the band is naturally the biggest audience in Turkey. There were no concerts in San Francisco and the surrounding area last year, and voices began to be heard from other cities. On April 1, the San Francisco concert will be the venue for the first tour, with Los Angeles on April 15 and San Diego concerts on April 16. The group members, who indicate how much the grandfather's listeners are alive with the familiar melodies, have not forgotten the American listeners. Famous Turkish and English pieces mixed together and "fusion" works are said to be very interested in concerts.
